Moving

The moving went well, but I do hate to unpack everything. Especially when it is almost 30 degrees outside. I have managed to find most things except for the remote control to the tv.  The extra exercise is probably very healthy, I say to myself.

I took a break to go to the securtiy arena seminar today. It was a terrific seminar, the best I have been to, about Rakel, a new radio communication system for emergency practisioners. There were many good questions. Many members of the audience critisised that the development is so rigid and slow. They would like to contribute with ideas and improvements for example. I totally agree that the system is unflexible. It takes a year to become a new user of the system, and it is very regulatet who is alowed to join. I am not sure how it will be a part of my project… Many of the shortcomings of the system are similar to the shortcomings in WIS.

Vacation!

So, finally vacation!

Or is it? I just have to finnish a report, no three reports. I need to read a Ms. student’s text. Create a powerpoint presentation. Check a late hand-in by a group that failed a project in a cource. And pack for the moving too, of course.

I will at least go for a lot of flute playing! Hurray! I actually have a hard time with a piece in th ebeginning of flute.nu 3. I am completely lousy at syncopation, and can do nothing by ear. And here they are trying to teach how to jazz up a song. They have part of the score for the jazzy version, but not all of it. So I am working my way through it bar by bar i a snail pace, and try to get everything absolutely tight. Starting at metronome 60 bpm and hoping I ever will reach 120 bpm without losing correctness. I have no idea if it is even possible… I am not sure how I will handle the part that is only on the cd.

To cheer myself up, I am working on Heidenröslein and Die Forelle from another book. I want to memorize them and surprise my teacher in two weeks. A lot of fun, but I hope there will be enough time.

Mästarmöten

There is new tv-program about musicc called Mästarmöten. On sundays svt2 19:00. It is really great so take a look! A Danish conductor is inviting different musicians to talk and play. It was really entertaining, and I think it suits even thoose who are not all that interested in classical music.

Oh these students…

Had a meeting with some students today, because of their report in a course. They had just copied large parts of the text from different sources. Actually, almost everything that was connected to theory was copied without proper referencing or quoting! The students are not new but at an advanced level, so they should have be reported to the discipline commite. But they got a chance to rewrite.

I’ll spend the weekend on packing for the moving. I’ll really miss this flat…

Lousy service

I am so sick and tired of the lousy service as a researcher! My entrance card has stopped working for some spaces, so I can’t get into the personel room or our big meeting area. I had to go to another building to get it updated, but when I got there there was oly a sign that they are closed due to sickness. No information on when they will be back and no substitute.

There are other people using the big meeting room, which realy is not ours, and they constantly stop by asking administrative questions that is not our business at all.

The student office is closed for the summer, which means that I have to travel to the other campus to buy a parking permit. Terrible! Additionally, the main entrance is closed because the student office is closed.

I have also had numerous discussions about who is going to pay for the summer school. Time that I could have spent working. Finally I have an answer at least…

Post and cleaning are also so so.

Guess I need a vacation, right?

Summer School

Good news! I have been accpete to ISCRAMS summer school in Tilburg. It will be in August, 20 to 27, and sadly that means that I’ll miss my aunts 90th birthday. I should visit them sometime during the summer, and they should visit me too.

Nevertheless, the summer school will be fun i hope. I was happy to see that a colleague from Gothenburg will be going too.

Eindhoven

Apparently I have not been blogging about the study trip to Eindhoven two weeks ago. In short: the trip was really fun and we had nice weather.
